Peter Bekx, a Belgian national, is the Director of International Economic and Financial Relations and Global Governance in the European Commission's Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs. Prior to that, Peter has been the director of Business Statistics in Eurostat.

 

Peter Bekx graduated in Economics from the Free University of Brussels (VUB), where he also obtained a M. Sc. in Statistics and Econometrics and a doctorate in Economics. He was Professor of Economics at the Free University of Brussels for six years.

 

In 1985, he joined the European Commission, where he held a number of posts in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs, including a four-year period as the Head of the Economic and Financial section of the Commission's Delegation in Washington DC. From 2002 to 2006, Peter was the deputy head of cabinet of the European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.

 

Peter Bekx has published extensively on various topics related to monetary integration, exchange rate regimes, and econometric modelling.

Francis Rawlinson is currently a professor at Kwansei Gakuin University where he is attached to the University’s Industrial Research Institute. He is of British origin and after the study of German language and linguistics at Manchester and Marburg (Germany) Universities (Dr Phil Marburg, 1973) and a spell as a lecturer in German Studies (University of North Wales, 1970-1973), he worked for 35 years (1973-2009) as an official at the EU Commission. Recruited as a translator, after 15 years’ work in the translation department and Economics studies (Open University), he served for 20 years in the EU Commission’s Competition and Regional Development Policy departments as a economist. His publications include EU competition law and regional policy. His current research specialisms are EU competition, regional, industrial and monetary policies and public enterprise. He is married to a Japanese and has two children and two grandchildren, living in Brussels.

 

フランシス・ローリンソン、関西学院大学産業研究所教授。イギリス出身。ドイツ言語学をManchester とMarburg大学で学び博士学位を取得（Marburg, 1973年。North Wales大学ドイツ言語学科で1970年から3年間教鞭をとる。その後、1973年より欧州委員会（ベルギー・ブリュッセル）に35年間勤務。同委員会では当初、翻訳者として翻訳業務に従事。一方でイギリスのOpen大学で経済学を学ぶ。1989年からは競争総局及び地域開発総局にて経済担当官として20年間勤務。EUにおける競争、地域開発政策に関する著書がある。現在の研究分野はEUの競争政策、地域開発政策、産業政策、通貨政策と公営企業。妻は日本人。ベルギーに一男一女、そして孫２人がいる。

My special field of study is international finance and world economy. I have studied international monetary systems, international investments, and monetary problems in the EU, from the historical, institutional, and theoretical view point. I am now studying especially the governance of France and the EU to the financial crisis.

 

私の専門分野は、国際金融論、並びに世界経済論、研究分野は、国際金融システム、国際投資、並びにEUの通貨・金融問題に関する歴史的、制度的、かつ理論的な研究です。現在は、金融危機に対するフランスとEUのガヴァナンスに関する研究を行っています。

Sadayoshie TAKAYA      Professor, Kansai University

Sadayoshi Takaya is a researcher of International Monetary Economics and European Economy. His current research fields are European Economic Crisis, Global Imbalances under Economic Crisis, and Financial regulation in the post crisis. He recently published the book titled by “The Truth of European Crisis” (2011, Toyo-Keizai Pub. in Japanese). He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Kobe University and earned Ph.D. in 1998.  Sadayoshi Takaya is currently a professor at the Faculty of Commerce of Kansai University.

 

神戸大学大学院経済学研究科博士課程修了（1991年）博士(経済学）。現在、関西大学商学部教授。専攻は国際金融論、欧州経済論。現在の研究テーマは欧州危機の構造、グローバル危機と国際通貨制度、国際金本位制の計量分析。
