1. EUIJ-Kyushu SHORT VISIT SCHOLARSHIP 2015-16

Overview

The purpose of this scholarship is to support students during language study or other short-term study programs within the EU.  Through this study abroad, students will broaden and deepen their understanding of the EU and its relationship to Japan and within the world, and establish a commitment to continue to develop strong and friendly ties between Japan and the EU into the future.


Eligibility
Degree-seeking students, either undergraduate or graduate, enrolled in one of the EUIJ-Kyushu consortium member universities--Kyushu University, Fukuoka Women’s University--AND enrolled in the EUIJ-Kyushu EU Diploma Programmes (EU-DPs) may apply. An overall GPA of 2.5 or above on the home university transcript is strongly recommended.

In accordance with the purpose of the EU grant offered to EUIJ-Kyushu, EU nationals may not apply for this scholarship.


Destination and Period of Study
Approved language programs (in languages of the EU member states) and spring or summer programs taking place in any of the EU member states, from August 2015 to March 2016, are acceptable.

Number of Recipients
Up to two students shall be selected.

Award Amount
For travel expenses and tuition fees, a maximum of 140,000 yen per student shall be awarded.

Note: Students attending study abroad programs which do not include language courses must indicate their ability to communicate effectively in the program’s language of instruction.

4. Official academic transcript with GPA (Japanese or English)
Note: Official transcripts must show the previous spring and fall grades/GPA. A letter of recommendation from an academic advisor may be submitted if this information is not on the current transcript.

5. Photocopy of official study abroad program acceptance letter
Note: Students may indicate the date of expected acceptance on the application (Form 1) if the acceptance letter cannot be obtained by the application deadline.

6. Travel Expenses & Tuition Fees Documentation  (Form 4) 
Note: Applicants must provide a quote issued by a travel agency or an online estimate for travel expenses, and an invoice or documents showing the tuition fees.

7. Program details (program description, syllabi, etc.)

Selection Procedure
Recipients of this scholarship shall be determined by the EUIJ-Kyushu Management Committee. Based on the application documents, students will be invited for interviews; candidates will be notified of the result by the end of July.

Note:  Applicants may also apply for other scholarships.


Post-study Report
Scholarship recipients must submit a report to the EUIJ-Kyushu after returning from the study program. (Form 5)

2. EUIJ-Kyushu DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP 2014-15
Application Closed. Doctoral Scholarship is not available for 2015-16.

Overview
The purpose of this scholarship is
1) to provide partial support for travel and living expenses for senior level doctoral students who wish to pursue research on the EU in academic institutions located in the EU member states, and
2) to further encourage EU research in Japan.

Eligibility
Students enrolled in senior level doctoral studies in one of the EUIJ-Kyushu consortium member universities—Kyushu University or Fukuoka Women’s University—who start to study abroad in the academic year of 2014-15 may apply.
*In accordance with the purpose of the EU grant offered to EUIJ-Kyushu, EU nationals may not apply for this scholarship.

Field of Research
Research on any aspect(s) of the EU, to be conducted in one or more of the EU member states, is acceptable.

Number of Recipients
One student shall be selected.

Period of Study
Up to 12 months

Award Amount
Monthly allowances of 80,000 yen and/or travel expense (economy class) shall be awarded. Maximum amount paid out shall be 960,000 yen in total per student.
*Scholarship award shall be applicable until March 2015; thus, monthly allowance after April 2015 shall not be awarded.

Based on the application documents, students will be invited for interviews. The recipients of this scholarship shall be determined by the EUIJ-Kyushu Management Committee.

Applicants shall be informed of the result by email in November.

Post-trip Report and Article
Recipients of this scholarship must submit a report to EUIJ-Kyushu after returning from the study program. In addition, it is recommended to write an article for the EUIJ-Kyushu E-Journal.

3. EU Scholarship 2013-14

The EU Scholarship provides funds for students of the EU-DPs to study at an EU-based university for up to 12 months.
