[About registration]
  • How can I register for the EU-DPs?

Registration for the EU-DPs is accepted during the registration period at Kyushu University EU Centre. The registration period of each academic year will be announced on the website.
Course list and syllabi will also be available from the website.
Please refer to EU-DPs Registration for more details.

  • Do I have to register for the EU-DP courses to my faculty/department if I once register the courses to Kyushu University EU Centre?

Registration to your home faculty/department is necessary. Because the system of registration to Kyushu University EU Centre and registration to your home faculty is different, you need to register the courses separately in order for credit earning. If you fail to register the courses at your home faculty, you may not be able to gain credits.  Please be sure to register for the courses at your home faculty/department.

  • I have some course works which I took and completed in the past. Can I register those courses and use it to complete the EU-DPs?

Courses completed in the past which currently appear on the list of EU-DPs courses may be used toward the EU-DP credits.
Please fill out the entry field in the “Courses and Research Paper Registration Form” and submit it to Kyushu University EU Centre during the registration period. However, the programme requirement cannot be fulfilled only with the previously completed coursework.

  • Several courses are provided in the same course name with different teachers. Can I register those any courses?

No, you can register only for the course with specified teacher as listed on the EU-DPs Course List.

  • Do I have to re-enter the name of the courses in the registration form which I once registered for EU-DPs in the past?

No, you do not have to re-register the courses you took before. In the case when you registered for the course before, but in fact you did not take it, you are required to submit the “Registration Change Form”.

  • Does it cost money to gain the Diploma?

No, EU-DPs is a free programme.
[About the registration period]
  • I registered and took EU-DPs courses last year, but cannot take any EU-DPs courses this year. In this case, will it be considered that I am not registered in the EU-DPs?

You will be regarded as continuing the programme until you graduate or complete the programme once you register for the EU-DPs and the period from your first registration will be counted as an enrolled period.
[About credit recognition and final approval]
  • After I complete EU-DPs courses, do I have to report it or submit a form to Kyushu University EU Centre?

No. Kyushu University EU Centre will check the credit status of your EU-DPs course work with your academic transcript once we receive the EU-DPs Diploma Application. Kyushu University EU Centre will prepare academic transcripts of EU-DPs students.

  • When I fulfill the requirement of the EU-DPs, will I be able to receive a diploma automatically?

No. You have to submit the “EU-DPs Diploma Application” during a certain period if you wish to receive a diploma. Kyushu University EU Centre holds an application assessment meeting once in each semester (first/spring and second/fall).
Please refer to “How to Apply for a Diploma” for more details.

[Others]
  • What is EU-DPs Research Paper?

One of the requirements for completing the programme is writing a research paper. This paper must focus on an EU-related matter and be discussed within the context of one or more academic disciplines such as economics, law and politics, history, culture and society, science technology, environment, and public health.  Third year undergraduate students and above and all graduate students are eligible for submission.
In lieu of a separate research paper, students may submit a graduation thesis or a master’s thesis as long as it is related to an EU matter.  The paper may not be applied towards their credits for graduation. It will be approved for the Diploma in EU Studies only.
Please refer to “EU-DPs Research Paper” section for more details.

  • Is there any penalty for the incompletion of this course?

No, regardless of your completion requirements, you can register for courses even if it is a subject.

  • What is Kyushu University EU Centre Library?

The Kyushu University EU Centre Library is located in the Kyushu University EU Centre office, Hakozaki campus, and is open to the public.  There are EU-related books and articles.
Hard copies of all submitted research papers are available for inspection at the library. Books can be borrowed. Please visit the library if you are interested. (Open hours: 10:00-17:00)

  • What is the benefit of receiving the diploma?

EU-DPs do not provide you with a certificate which enables you to do something particular immediately. However, it is expected that you will gain fundamental knowledge necessary for you to work actively in an international stage in the future by studying European economics, law and politics, history, culture, society, science technology, environment and public health in an EU research curriculum.
