JMCoE-Q3 (Dec. 2024-)

Launch of JMCoE-Q3 (December 2024)

We are pleased to announce that the EU Centre at Kyushu University has started a new project, the “Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence-Kyushu, Third Stage (JMCoE-Q3).” The project is funded by the EU Erasmus+ and will run from December 2024 to November 2027. Over the three years, the project will be aiming at constructing a primary regional hub in East Asia and Japan for the research and education of the EU related issues by offering a wide range of research and education opportunities, outreach activities and international collaborations.

Objectives

As the only Jean Monnet CoE in Japan, the project has two umbrella purposes: to deepen the “Ecosystem of EU Research and Teaching” and to develop “public education on the policies and values of the EU.” In this JMCoE, the Centre will particularly address the two strategic areas—“EU and Environment” and “EU and Democratic Citizenship”, across the following 3 dimensions: (1) “Internal Challenges” of the EU integration and policies, (2) “External Challenges” of the EU in relation to the rest of the world, and (3) “Global Challenges” which the whole world, including the EU and Japan, are confronting.
