What’s “Science Cafe” ?

The Kyushu University Social Collaboration Promotion Office aims to contribute to the revitalisation of citizen science, including the promotion of outreach activities closely linked to local communities, by advancing social collaboration initiatives that support scientific activities among the general public.
Science cafés, which began in the United Kingdom and France from 1997 onwards, seek to create forums for discussing highly specialised content among a broad range of people, not limited to experts, emphasising two-way communication between scientists/researchers and citizens. In this context, “science” is understood to encompass all academic disciplines.
